World reacts to Tommy Fleetwood’s silver medal at the Olympics

Dubai resident Tommy Fleetwood clinched the silver medal at the Olympics last week, helping Great Britain boost their medal haul as they look to eclipse their performance at Tokyo just three years ago.

The Englishman was competing in his second Olympic Games representing his home nation Great Britain, and he finished one shot behind World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler to secure a medal.

With that result, the 33-year-old joined Justin Rose as the only British golfers to win Olympic medals with the latter winning gold back in 2016 in Rio.

It was an impressive performance even despite coming agonisingly close to being named the Olympic champion, but nevertheless, the praise has filtered through from all over the world.

Everton Football Club send their support

It’s well known Fleetwood is a big fan of football and supports his home town club, Everton.

The Toffees are deep into their pre-season training for the upcoming football season, and they’ll be hoping to be picking up their own piece of silverware come the end of the new football campaign.

Le Golf National specialist

Fleetwood made his Ryder Cup debut back in 2018 at Le Golf National, and formed a formidable partnership with Francesco Molinari.

It was a fantastic week for the 33-year-old back then as Europe went on to win that week, so a comparison to the great Michael Phelps seems fair enough!

Family affair

Fleetwood’s family were in support all throughout the week, and managed to grab a snap for the memory books after securing silver.

The is a picture that will no doubt find its’ place in the family home somewhere. What a great memory for them all.

Mission accomplished

There’s no sweeter feeling than when a plan comes together!

And from the man himself…

Definitely feels like the Olympics is becoming more and more important on the golfing calendar. Congrats, Tommy!
