Favourite golf club of all time | Matthew Baldwin

For the second instalment of our ‘Favourite golf club of all time’ series we talk to Matthew Baldwin, who has a special club that you can only obtain if you’re a Ping staff player – and win a Tour event!

Baldwin turned professional in 2008 and began his career on the Alps Tour. He went out to make several appearances on the Challenge Tour and won the Fred Olsen Challenge de España in 2011 before obtaining his full European Tour playing rights.

The Englishman made an appearance in The Open Championship in 2012, finishing in a share of 23rd place and he made his US Open debut that same year.

What’s Matt’s favourite club of all time?

“My favourite club is the Ping Wolverine H, because it takes me back to some good times at the start of my career,” he said. “It’s basically where my journey began, I got it for winning a Challenge Tour event back in 2011 and I’ll hopefully keep it forever.”

Since the 1970s, tournament champions who use Ping clubs like Baldwin are presented with a gold-plated putter which matches the specs of their putter and engraved with both their name and the name of the tournament won.

A replica of the club is stored in a vault at the Ping headquarters in Pheonix, Arizona.

There are currently over 3,000 golden plate clubs in the vault, take a look inside the Ping vault:
