Favourite golf club of all time | Simon Dyson

During lockdown, we reached out to several Tour pros & UAE golf pros to find out what their favourite golf club of all time is and why. Up first we have six-time European Tour winner Simon Dyson.

“My favourite golf club throughout my career has to be my Nike SQ driver” he said, “I had a nine degree, it was so easy to hit – and hard to hit off line.”

The Nike SQ Sumo² 5900 driver was launched in February 2008, and proved to be a success in that era of golf clubs.

“I had one that sat really pure. I had it in the bag for around two and a half years I remember hitting so many fairways.”

“I remember the first time I tried it. I hit Marc Warren’s at the Dunhill Links just before I signed with Nike and that product was one of the reasons why I switched to Nike from Titleist.”

Dyson had a successful 18 years on European Tour with six victories under his belt; he was a three-time KLM Open champion and won the Dunhill Links in 2009 with Rory McIlroy finishing runner up. He recently hung up his boots in 2019 and has started a golf academy: www.elitegolfperformance.co.uk
