Cobra King F9 Speedback could be the best set released in 2019

The Cobra King F9 Speedback range is one of the most talked-about sets on the market and it’s finally available for people to get their hands on in the UAE. As shown in last month’s edition of Worldwide Golf, the F9 driver is phenomenal. It helped eGolf Megastore’s Regardt van Rooyen hit it over 350 yards with impressive ball speed, low spin rates and exceptional feel. The irons, hybrids and fairway woods are just as stunning and are available in standard shaft lengths or the ‘One Length’ versions that last month’s Dubai Desert Classic champion Bryson DeChambeau uses.

The Claude Harmon III Performance Golf Academy at The Els Club has partnered with Cobra King and they were delighted to unveil the new products to the public on January 23. We got the chance to speak to legendary teaching professional Claude Harmon III and Director of Instruction, Jamie McConnell, about the quality of the F9 range and why they’ll make a huge impression.

Cobra F9 Speedback Driver – The King of Speed

The King F9 Speedback driver is the first of its kind to achieve true optimisation of aerodyonamics combined with a low centre of gravity, making it the fastest and longest Cobra driver ever.

How are they so fast?

The driver has the thinnest, hottest CNC milled face Cobra has ever made.

It has golf’s first ever Ultralight Carbon Wrap Crown which saves 10 grams compared to titanium driver crowns so your clubhead speed is far greater.

“The driver is outstanding and is a huge leap forward from its predecessor. Not only does it look nice, it is designed to help the golf club work faster with its aerodynamics, thin face and low centre of gravity which will benefit all golfers. Bryson (DeChambeau) and Rickie (Fowler) wanted to put it in the bag before it was launched to the public which is a sign of how good it is. I think it’s the best driver that will be released in 2019.” Claude Harmon III

The First CNC Milled Fairway Ever

The King F9 Speedback is golf’s first fairway wood to feature a CNC precision milled face. A forged stainless steel insert is CNC milled to deliver the thinnest, and hottest fairway face they’ve ever produced. It has a Speedback tungsten weight at the bottom of the club lowers the CG by 10%, improving ball speed, stability and launch angle.

“The feel is a lot different with the CNC Milled Fairway wood. It sounds like a wooden golf club rather than the tinny sound you’re used to. This heavy wooden sound was something that Rickie and Bryson loved. The CNC Milled Face allows you to see where you’re catching it on the face. This club is face just like the driver as they both have similar aerodynamics.” Claude Harmon III

Cobra F9 irons

“These irons fly like a rocket. 33 grams of tungsten is combined on the toe, with a high MOI and low centre of gravity to produce incredible ball speed.” Claude Harmon III

One Length

Cobra’s Speedback ONE Length hybrid is engineered to match 7-iron length, lie and swing weight. Its low CG and high MOI design produces higher launching trajectories and faster ball speeds.

“I went to One Length about two years ago because I had back surgery and had struggled for a long time and these help a lot with that pain. Bryson’s configuration is a bit different to me but I love all my irons being the same length as the seven iron. As an instructor, this is the club you tend to get your students to hit with and is most people’s favourite club to practice with so it makes your long irons be easier to control. I love the stealthy look of this set too with the black shaft and black head. I’m a huge fan.” Claude Harmon III

“It’s magnificent that Cobra and Puma have a home here in Dubai at the Claude Harmon Performance Golf Academy at The Els Club. The equipment is so good and I’m excited for everybody to test it out and add Cobra to their bags. Rickie Fowler has been using the F9 since November and he loved the look of it from the start. The first tournament Bryson DeChambeau used his new ‘One Length’ set, he was victorious in the Shriners Hospital for Children Open and he’s just won again at the Dubai Desert Classic. NoI’m hitting the ball further with it and am improving. I think it’s going to be really cool to see how many people switch to Cobra King F9 Speedback.”

“It’s really exciting for our Academy to partner with Cobra Golf. The new F9 equipment is fantastic. It’s a modern brand with unique players like Bryson and Rickie using it so we’re really excited to see where this takes us.”
