Are Tiger and Nike parting company?

The golf rumour drums are banging once again, but this time there is no LIV Golf or PGA TOUR connection, it’s all about Nike and Tiger Woods and whether the two are parting ways after one of the longest standing brand partnerships in the game.

Tiger signed with Nike 27 years ago, in 1996, just before he won his first major at Augusta in 1997. Since then, the Nike swoosh has been on his chest for all 15 of his Major wins but when the global sports giant put a halt to Nike Golf in July 2016, Tiger like their other golf ambassadors could only promote their clothing line.

Even though Tiger is battling back from injury and set to play a light schedule in 2024, he remains box office, and for this reason he’s going to have huge endorsement reach. At the end of this month Tiger will just be two years shy of Champions Tour eligibility and maybe Nike are looking to turn their financial focus to the younger generation.

We can only guess that a brand like Footjoy might try to move in and sign Tiger, as he’s been known to sport their footwear on course since 2022.

We will keep you posted as things develop, but lets hope he’s still involved in some of the coolest golf adverts!
