Vidal Seals Maiden HotelPlanner Tour Title Ahead of UAE Swing

Spain’s Quim Vidal clinched his first HotelPlanner Tour victory in thrilling fashion, edging out England’s Joshua Berry in a dramatic play-off at the Delhi Challenge — setting the stage for an exciting run as the Tour prepares to head to the UAE.

Vidal began the final round at Classic Golf & Country Club with a three-shot lead but saw that margin erased after a one-under-par 71, leaving him tied with Berry at 18 under after 72 holes. Both players exchanged birdies on the first two play-off holes before Vidal sealed the win with a clutch birdie on the third.

The 25-year-old kept his nerve after a slow start and produced a sensational eagle on the final hole of regulation to force extra holes — a moment he called “special”.

“I wasn’t expecting this after a tough day, but I’m lost for words,” said Vidal. “The play-off was so intense, and that eagle putt on 18 was probably the only long one I made all day. I knew I had to make it, and I was fully focused on doing just that.”

The win propels Vidal to fifth on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, putting him firmly in the hunt for one of the 20 DP World Tour cards up for grabs at season’s end.

“This gives me confidence,” he added. “The points take a bit of pressure off, but I’ll keep pushing to stay near the top. The goal is to earn promotion to the DP World Tour.”

Dutchman Lars van Meijel posted a final-round 66 to take solo third at 17 under par, with Austria’s Maximilian Steinlechner and Italy’s Filippo Celli one shot further back in a tie for fourth. Five players shared sixth on 15 under, including American Davis Bryant, Peru’s Julian Perico, Portugal’s Pedro Figueiredo, India’s Arjun Prasad, and Denmark’s Victor Sidal Svendsen.

Daniel van Tonder

South African Daniel van Tonder continues to lead the Road to Mallorca standings with 742.4 points, followed by Berry in second. England’s Jamie Rutherford holds third, with Wilco Nienaber and Vidal rounding out the top five.

The HotelPlanner Tour now takes a short break before resuming in the UAE for the eagerly awaited UAE Challenge, taking place at Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club from April 10–13. With players jockeying for position in the rankings, the desert swing could prove pivotal in shaping the season’s promotion race.
