Ryder Cup star Tyrrell Hatton admitted he wondered if he ever win again in the aftermath of his victory on LIV Golf Nashville
The Englishman battled to his first triumph on the Saudi-backed breakaway circuit – his first victory since the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship back in 2021.
He finished on 19 under par and six shots clear, and becomes one of a select group of players to have on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and now LIV Golf.
“I guess having not won for 3 1/2 years, you wonder if you’d be able to do it again in some way,” Hatton said. “You kind of naturally question if you can do it again.
“So I was happy that I had sort of proved to myself, and especially like bouncing back after the disappointment of last Sunday (at the PGA Championship).
“So to put that behind me and to come out here and play like I did, and certainly how I putted this week, certainly won me the golf tournament.”
The 32-year-old also explained the urgency to play well straight from the first tee on his new Tour, with his opening-round six-under-par propelling him to his first LIV Golf victory.
“With it being three rounds, you have to get off to a decent start,” Hatton added. “The standard of golf out here, it doesn’t really allow you to be slow out of the blocks to be honest, otherwise you’re always playing catch up.
“Thankfully for me this week, it was my week that I started off pretty quick and managed to keep going. Yeah, I think we are all sort of trying to figure it out still but that’s the fun part.”
Hatton’s next expected start is at Valderrama on July 12-14 before playing at The Open the following week.
