Remember the name – Collin Morikawa! The American has joined Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only 23-year-old winners of the PGA Championship in its history after a stunning performance. This is the first time he’s competed in the PGA Championship and it won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
His drive on the 294-yard par 4 16th will go down as one of the greatest shots under pressure in Major history. You can see it below (as well as the rest of his final round highlights) if you missed it:
There are whispers in the industry that Morikawa is the best iron player on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods made his debut. He shot 13-under to beat Dustin Johnson and Paul Casey by two strokes and proved that his putting and driving skills are just as hot as his incredible iron play.
Here’s what the golfing realm has to say about Morikawa’s stunning display in what looks to be a first Major win of many:

Brooks Koepka with nothing but praise for Morikawa: “He’s a hell of a player. He’s really good. You see these guys coming out of college now, they are ready to win. It’s impressive what they do. They come out of college and they’re ready to play out here. Hat’s off to him.”

I love everything about Morikawa’s game, only guy who had a chance 2day with a ball speed under 170, just kept hitting fairways and doing his thing. Odds are against a guy like that but when you hit it that pure, it really doesn’t matter. Congrats to him & all his team #PGAChamp

Back in school, Collin Morikawa went through a testing session on TrackMan that revealed his dispersion pattern with a 6-iron was as good as most elite players with a pitching wedge. This kid is the real-life Iron Byron.
