The European Tour have brought forward their two Rolex Series events in October – the BMW PGA Championship and the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open – so that they will be played in back-to-back weeks and follow the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open in Northern Ireland.
The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open now takes place at The Renaissance Club, in North Berwick, from October 1-4 and the BMW PGA Championship, Wentworth Club in Surrey, moving into its vacated October 8-11 date.
This movement, coupled with the positioning of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Northern Ireland, which takes place from September 24-27, establishes the second UK Swing of the year on the Tour following the current six-event run, which reaches its conclusion at The Belfry next week.
It also continues the Tour’s strategy of staging consecutive tournaments in geographical clusters wherever possible.
The Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and the BMW PGA Championship will be subject to the European Tour’s health strategy based on respective government guidelines in Scotland and in England.
Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger defends the title in Scotland while Danny Willett was last year’s winner at Wentworth Club.
Jon Rahm is the reigning Dubai Duty Free Irish Open champion but it is as yet unknown if the Spaniard will defend his title or remain in the United States.
