Scoring was good during day two of the inaugural Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic with a clutch of leading LET players separating themselves from the pack to give them a chance of lifting the trophy under the floodlights on Friday evening at Emirates Golf Club.
Germany’s Esther Henseleit signed for a second round 66 to get to 9-under-par alongside Spain’s Nuria Iturrios, who followed a 67 with a 68, with both players completing their rounds before the sun went down and the floodlights came on.
Henseleit was one of three German’s inside the top five as the second round came towards its close, with Olivia Cowan one stroke back after a 70 and Karolin Lampert on 7-under-par with a few holes still to play.
Day one leader Leona Maguire of Ireland shot a 75 to fall back to 5-under-par and sit alongside Finland’s Noora Komulainen, who was still to complete her second round on the Faldo Course.

“My swing is feeling good and my long-game is solid so I thought I could attack some pins today and I managed to hole a few putts,” said Henseleit. “Sadly I had a double-bogey on the 17th which I’m not happy about but that happens – I’m happy about the round overall and the position I’m in.”
Henseleit is set for a showdown with Iturrios, who won in Morocco last week at the Lalla Meryem Cup, which was played alongside the European Tour’s Trophee Hassan II tournament.
“I’m feeling good, playing night golf was so cool because it was my first time playing at night,” said Iturrios. “I’ve got to keep going, to trust in my game and we’ll see where it takes me. There’s still 18 holes to play and you never know what will happen but I just want to enjoy it.”
Entrance to the final day’s action is free to all spectators.

Esther Henseleit is going in search of her first LET title in Dubai.
