DeChambeau in the Hunt as Fog Disrupts International Series

A one-hour fog delay marked the start of the $2 million Asian Tour’s International Series – India, where US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau finds himself well in contention despite an unfinished first round.

The American powerhouse sits two shots off the lead at two under par, alongside Chile’s Joaquin Niemann. The pair, playing together, reached the 16th green before fading light halted play. They will return at first light to complete their final two holes before heading straight into round two.

Leading the field in the clubhouse is Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra, who battled back from four over to post a superb four-under-par 68.

International Series Dubai Golden VISA Challengers

Among the UAE-connected players, tournament host Anirban Lahiri is the standout performer so far. The Indian star, one of five Dubai Golden VISA Awardees in the field, carded a level-par 72 to sit tied for 13th.

Shiv Kapur endured a frustrating day, signing for a 77. “I thought I played really well, but I just couldn’t get my scoring boots on,” he admitted. “This course can drag you down – you hit good shots but walk off with a bogey or worse. You need to keep the ball in play and have a solid short game. I’m five over, but I’m far from out of it. The cut is tomorrow, and that’s my focus for the next 24 hours. I’m staying positive and ready for round two.”

Tough Going

It proved a tough opening day for the field, with only 12 players managing to break par. Those with later tee times seemed to benefit from improving conditions as the day progressed.

Designed by Gary Player, the DLF Golf & Country Club is widely regarded as one of the sternest tests in professional golf. For those yet to complete their rounds, an arduous day lies ahead as they return at dawn to finish before immediately heading into round two.
