The freak accident that changed Brooks Koepka’s life forever

Brooks Koepka has proved himself as one the world’s best players over the last three years since winning his first of four Majors at the U.S. Open in 2017. The 29 year old is one of the most athletic golfers in the history of the sport and has the physique to be a professional American football player or baseball player. However, a freak accident in his childhood forced the American to take golf more seriously.

DEBATE: Rory v Brooks? Who’s the best?

“When I was 10 I was in a car accident going 45/50 km/h,” Koepka said in an interview on the ‘Pardon My Take’ YouTube channel. “My brother was in the backseat and I was in the front as my nanny drove a red light and T-boned a lady. In the accident I drilled my face against the dashboard and pretty much broke everything in my face so that wasn’t good!

“I couldn’t play contact sports for a year so I was like ‘I’m done with hockey’ so started to take golf seriously and keep playing baseball. After a while I figured I wasn’t very good at baseball so just kept playing golf.

“I think my parents fired the nanny!” he laughs now.

Ironically, the nanny was responsible for creating a four-time Major winner Brooks Koepka!
