Stephen Gallacher returns to his ‘home from home’ this week on the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club where he unforgettably lifted the trophy in 2013 and wrote history when he became the first golfer to successfully defend the title a year later.

Although the last time Gallacher was in the winner’s circle was in this event four years ago, it’s a tournament that the Scotsman is keen to repeat more success in. He played a number of rounds against his son here last month leading up to the European Tour event that originated in 1989.

“I’m very familiar with the course because I come out to Dubai a lot and play lots of rounds at the Emirates,” said Gallacher. “It was only last month that I played a few rounds here with my son. The course really suits my eye and I’m able to read the greens well around here. It’s a windy track so you have to shape the ball which is the way I like to play from right to left.

“It’s a great course, clubhouse and brilliant people at this event and I’ve had some fantastic memories here. It was four years ago when I last won a tournament. I have had a couple of top tens since but I’d like to try my hardest to be in contention on Sunday.”

There’s no doubt that plenty of fans in Dubai will be cheering on the 43 year old who knows as good as anyone, the secret behind shooting low scores on the Majlis.
