Jeev Milkha Singh at 53: Defying Pain, Inspiring Generations, and Eyeing a Stronger Comeback

At 53, Jeev Milkha Singh continues to inspire. On his birthday, December 15, 2024, wef caught up with the Indian golf legend and Dubai Golden VISA awardee, fresh off another landmark season. Jeev closed his 32nd year as a professional golfer with a tied 22nd finish at the MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius, securing 26th place in the Legends Tour’s season-long rankings.

The Pain

But this season wasn’t just about numbers. Battling plantar fasciitis, a painful foot condition, Jeev pushed through 30 tournaments across three major tours, showcasing his unwavering dedication. Reflecting on his journey, Jeev Milkha Singh shares his plans for recovery, family time, and a renewed hunger to return stronger in 2025. From hosting events to top-10 finishes, his passion for the game remains unshaken, proving that even after three decades, the fire still burns bright.

The Time Off

Jeev Milk Singh told WorldWide Golf, “I am now taking six weeks off to fix my foot. It has been a concern for a couple of months.”

“I have plantar fasciitis around my Achilles. Walking has been very painful, and practice has been difficult. The pain is underneath my foot. I am no doctor, but it is where the plantar fasciitis attaches to the front of the heel bone.”

“It is now family time for me, which includes helping my son with his golf. I am currently in Chandigarh, India, where I was born, to also work on the physical and mental side of both myself and my game.”

“Even now, at 53 years of age, I have the appetite to come back better and stronger next season.”

The Season

Speaking in a reflective mood about his 2024 season, Jeev Milkha Singh continued, “I have played 30 tournaments this year around the world, on the Japan Senior Tour, the Legends Tour, and the Asian Tour. My best finish this year was a tied third in the HSBC India Legends Championship, from 30th August to 1st September, on the Legends Tour at Jaypee Greens, which I hosted. It was a great week for everyone, but it took a lot out of me – it used up more energy than I had expected, and it took time to recover.”

“Towards the end of the season, on the Japan Senior Tour, I had a run of three tournament weeks, finishing ninth, 10th, and 15th. These performances helped me to secure my 2025 playing privileges for the Japan Golf Tour, where I have always enjoyed playing as well as visiting.”

“I am looking forward to coming to Dubai in January next month for a few days to catch up with all my friends.”
