The next race will be in two weeks where F1 will run the virtual Australian GP after that race was scrapped on March 13 following a COVID-19 outbreak.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have seen sporting events cancelled across the world but last night a host of global stars, including Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter, took part in the first ever Formula 1 Virtual Grand Prix.
‘The Postman’ was selected to take on the Bahrain International Circuit for the Renault DP World F1 Team alongside their test driver Guanyu Zhou. Formula 1 drivers Lando Norris and Nico Hulkenberg were also part of the impressive lineup while One Direction megastar Liam Payne joined the Williams Team for the Virtual Grand Prix.
Poulter, who is an avid petrolhead, had shared videos of himself practising throughout the week on his impressive simulator while Renault DP World driver, Esteban Ocon, tweeted some advice to the Englishman before the race got underway last night.
Hey @IanJamesPoulter, we hear you’ve been practicing hard for tonight’s #VirtualGP already and wanted to help out… So we asked our drivers to share their advice on racing in Bahrain! @OconEsteban, you’re up first! #RSspirit pic.twitter.com/Us9D4x7jCJ
