Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club are set to welcome golfers from all over the globe once again when they host two of the most prestigious golf events in the capital in the shape of the Abu Dhabi Pro-Am presented by Troon Golf and the Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship.
The stunning Gary Player-designed Saadiyat Beach Golf Club made history in December last year after hosting the first official World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event in the UAE with the Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship, which saw 59 players of 18 different nationalities travelling to the emirate for the groundbreaking event.
After the huge success of the inaugural tournament, which South African Dino Capazario won with an impressive 54-total of 3-over-par 219, the club is set to host the second staging of the event from 16th – 18th December 2019 with the official Practice Round taking place on Sunday 15th December.
“We are delighted to host the second Abu Dhabi Amateur Championship later on this year, after what was an incredibly successful first edition of the tournament last December,” said Francisco Lancastre, Group Director of Golf at Abu Dhabi Golf Club & Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
“We are committed to do all we can to help grow the game of golf and we believe this event will become a real highlight in the elite Amateur Golfing calendar over the years to come.”
Entry to the event starts from just AED 250 which includes:
• One Practice Round and 54 Hole Tournament on the Gary Player designed Championship Golf Course
• One Welcome Dinner at the Tournament Hotel and one Tournament Dinner at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club
• Complimentary return trips from the Tournament Hotel to the Golf Course
• Preferred pricing at the Tournament Hotel (Southern Sun) for all players and their families

The welcome dinner, which includes a delicious BBQ with two house drinks, will also see a guest speaker add to the prestige of the event with former Formula 1 star Heikki Kovaleinen entertaining guests at the 2018 edition.

International and local golfers can also take advantage of the superb packages on offer for the the Abu Dhabi Pro-Am presented by Troon Golf, a 54 hole Tournament played across Saadiyat Beach Golf Club and Abu Dhabi Golf Club with players treated to Abu Dhabi’s finest 5* hospitality and attractions from 2nd – 6th February 2020.
The Team Stableford format will see the top three teams take home some great prizes along with daily prizes for Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin. In The Professional Individual Strokeplay event players will aim to emulate MENA Tour star Robbie Busher, who sealed a memorable victory in the last edition with an extraordinary final round comeback from four shots down to capture the trophy after three days of enthralling action.
The Professional Individual Strokeplay event will see players compete for an impressive prize fund of 30,000 Euros (based on 30 teams) with each player guaranteed at least 500 Euros.

“We were able to attract 32 players for the first edition in 2018, which was successfully followed by 72 players this year. With some exciting changes and improvements to the event, we are expecting to welcome over 100 players from all corners of the world in 2020.”
