Dreamland Golf Club played host to the first ever Ambassadors Trophy in association with Mercedes Benz.
Popular around the world, the invitation is offered to all Embassies to put forward a team of four players to represent their country in this annual event. The teams included Azerbaijan, USA, South Korea, Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden Germany, and Malaysia enjoyed a luxury day with the thanks to Mercedes Benz and additional prizes offered by Bilgah Beach Hotel and ALKO Hall wines. Players were greeted at the luxurious Dreamland Golf Club Clubhouse before being chauffeur driven to the Golf Academy in some of the latest Mercedes offerings including the new Viano, The GLS and the recently launched E Class.
The scoring was as ever very competitive, with the South Korean team winning the first years trophy with players Kwon Dong Seok Choi Jin Youb
Lee Jeong Jae Tak Hong Min with a 5 under par 67 – net 59.4. Team Malaysia were second place H.E Roslan Abdul Rahman, Ramzi Kadri Ahmad Zakir Salehudin Rosli Hamzah Gross 69 Net 59.6. Third Place went to Team Sweden with Tomas Danestad, Julius Danestad, Kennet Radne and Khalil Huseynov with a net 61.2 Gross 68.
The side contests resulted in some spectacular golf shots being played by Dmitry Rushika – Nearest the Pin Hole 7, Khalil Huseynov Nearest the Pin Hole 11, Choi Jin Youb Longest Drive Hole 16 and Straightest Drive 10 Julius Danestad.

As part of developing the awareness of golf in Azerbaijan we have been able to create an event which reaches out to players from all corners of the globe. It has been fantastic to see the spirit between the teams as they competed for the 2017 title. With many non-golfing Ambassadors attending our “Welcome to Golf Clinic” they have already pledged their support with a team for 2018. A further thank you must go to Bilgah Beach hotel for the winning prize of an overnight room stay for two people and ALKO HALL wines who hosted a wine tasting for players to enjoy”.
