Fitzgerald wins in Doha and a spot in the Qatar Masters

Calum Fitzgerald has played his way into the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters having just won the 2024 WAGR Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship at the Doha Golf Club by three shots.

Saleh al-Kaabi from Qatar was closing in on the Englishman having carded a 71, the lowest round of the day, but Fitzgerald had built a commanding leading coming into the final round and despite shooting 76 he managed to take a three stroke victory over Saleh.

Ireland’s Keith Crowley secured third place , with Pakistan’s Omar Khalid Hussain finishing joint fourth with Australia’s Andrew Ikstrums.

The event is steeped in history dating back to 1983  and plays a key role in the development of golf in Qatar by providing a platform for local talents to compete alongside international players.

This year more than 100 golfers from 30 countries took part, all vying to be crowned the winner of the 38th Qatar Open Amateur Golf Championship, and a spot in the equally historic Commercial Bank Qatar Masters .
