Ahmed Mohamed Al-Musharrekh becomes the second Emirati national to line up at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links, Yas Island starting this Thursday, 20th January.
After receiving an invite from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Al-Musharrekh joins Emirates’ Number One golfer Ahmad Skaik in a scintillating line-up including Major winners Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Adam Scott and defending champion Tyrrell Hatton at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
Returning after a four-year break from the Championship, Al-Musharrekh is back to compete in the first Rolex Series event of the 2022 DP World Tour season, and will be striving to beat his final previous score of 22-over-par.
The 32-year-old has experienced some great highs through his career, breaking ground when he became the first UAE National to turn professional in 2012 before joining the UAE National golf team at the age of 15. Al-Musharrekh also became the first Emirati to qualify for the Asian Amateur Championship, and he will hope to break more ground this week.

First staged in 2006, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship has built a strong legacy in the Middle East, and the move to Yas Island highlights Abu Dhabi as an international sports hub. As well as the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the season ending F1 Championship and the Ultimate Fighting Championship are also taking residency at the world-class venue.
The tournament takes place from January 20-23, 2022, with a prize fund of US$8 million and 8,000 DP World Tour points available.
