Langasque targeting French No.1 spot

This year’s DP World Tour Championship saw double the amount of Frenchman taking part compared to the 2017 edition with Mike Lorenzo-Vera, Benjamin Hebert, Victor Perez and Romain Langasque all taking on the iconic Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

Langasque, who secured his playing privileges with a fifth place finish at Qualifying School a year before, impressed on his return to the European Tour by finishing 24th in the Race to Dubai but the 24 year old is keen to push on and challenge for top spot in France.

“The last few years have been tough for the French game with only Alex Levy really putting us on the map,” said Langasque, who is currently ranked fourth in France behind Perez, Lorenzo-Vera and Hebert.

“So, it was great to have Victor win last year at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and have four of us playing in the DP World Tour Championship. Obviously, Mike did really well with a third place finish and the other two guys finished in the top 20 so it was really nice to see.

“We are all helping eachother and pushing eachother on by finishing as high as we can which is not only good for French golf but for all of us personally. We have some great players and hopefully I can push on and become the French No.1 instead of No.4!” – Romain Langasque

The 2018 Hopps Open de Provence champion started his 2020 Race to Dubai campaign with a tied 26th finish at the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open while fellow countryman Antoine Rozner and Hebert finished inside the top five at Heritage Golf Club.
