Woods will win on the PGA Tour this year – Davies

Dame Laura Davies believes Tiger Woods will win again this year on the PGA Tour if he can stay fit.

The 15-time Major winner made his return to action last week at the Genesis Invitational, but had to withdrew due to illness.

Despite failing to finish the event, the American seemed to be competitive following a respectable opening round of 72.

These first signs were positive, with many onlookers and spectators remaining optimistic about his return for the rest of the year where he plans to play once a month.

“I think he’ll win this year if he stays fit,” Davies said on Sky Sports shortly after the 15-time Champion withdrew from the Genesis Invitational.

“If he can drive it like that all the time, we know his irons will come round, they’ve been a little bit loose. Putting’s been great, he’s still holing those very important five to 10 footers.

“I think if he is going to be fit – and it looked like the signs for that are good with his body – I think we’ve got a lot to look forward to.”

Woods’ next appearance on the PGA Tour is yet to be confirmed, but it is likely to be either the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 7 or at the Players Championship a week later.
