A dominant force on the LPGA Tour, Nelly Korda has captured five straight tournament victories and secured her second major title at The Chevron Championship. Now, all eyes are on whether she can break yet another record.
Her focus shifts to the Cognizant Founders Cup, aiming to extend her streak to six consecutive wins—a milestone that even golf legend Annika Sorenstam hasn’t achieved in LPGA history.
However, when asked about her prospects in a pre-tournament press conference, she downplayed expectations.
“If I’m being honest, I have not thought about [this tournament] at all because I’ve had so much going on those two weeks,” Korda confessed. “Then obviously, Monday I had The Met, so I haven’t had too much time to think about it.”
Moreover, her past performances in New Jersey, where the tournament is being held, haven’t been stellar. Last year, she missed the cut at Baltusrol by a considerable margin, finishing 11-over through 36 holes. She also failed to make the weekend at the previous year’s Cognizant Founders Cup, which was won by Jin Young Ko.
“My track record hasn’t been the greatest in New Jersey,” she acknowledged. “I’m really just trying to take it one shot at a time and see how it goes. This golf course is tough. It’s very, very narrow off the tee. The rough is very penalizing. And it’s wet this year, so it’s even worse.”
Despite these challenges, all eyes remain on Nelly Korda as she tees up, aiming to rewrite the record books once more.
