UAE talent Rich encourages more female participation in golf

UAE golfer Intissar Rich has encouraged fellow women to try golf and stated the sport has benefitted her life in many different ways.

The 24-year-old is one of the shining lights of the female game in the Middle East, representing the UAE at several international tournaments as well as having two wins recognised by WAGR.

She represented the country at the prestigious Espirito Santo Trophy at the end of 2023, while more recently she won the gold medal at the GCC Golf Championships.

These opportunities to play in such high-profile competitions have been helped by the support of the Emirates Golf Federation, and she has performed well on the international stage under pressure.

“The support of the EGF is second to none,” said Rich. “I’ve learned how to channel the great pressure and emotions of representing your country.

“I would tell young girls to go out there and learn how to love the game. Golf has given me so much enjoyment and benefitted my life in all aspects. I would encourage all women to try the game.”

More recently, Rich teed it up alongside fellow UAE golfer Jamie Camero on the Ladies European Tour in the Czech Republic.

Both players missed the cut, but this experience as amateurs to compete against some of the game’s best professionals will only benefit future development with plans over the coming months to improve further.

“This summer time will be huge towards my training and development,” Rich added.

“I’m always looking to up my game beyond pure training can take me, especially with the driver as distance is becoming very advantageous in the modern game.”
