Tyrrell Hatton bemused by better form in PGA Tour’s elevated events

Tyrrell Hatton insists he can’t explain why he performs better in elevated events, both on the PGA and DP World Tour.

The 31-year-old finished T-3 at last week’s Wells Fargo Championship to sit alongside four other top ten results this year.

The Englishman also sits 27th in the FedExCup Standings, a points list he finished 57th in last year.

“I don’t treat them any differently, so I don’t know why this year I’ve done nicely in the elevated events,” said Hatton.

“It’s the same at every tournament that we go to. I’m just out there trying my best to shoot the lowest score as I possibly can.

“I don’t prep any different, so I don’t know why I seem to have done nicely so far this year.”

Hatton also downplayed his chances ahead of next week’s PGA Championship.

“I felt so uncomfortable over the ball this weekend,” said Hatton after his round on Sunday.

“I didn’t feel like I could hit a good shot. I stood over tee shots today feeling like I was going to hit a snap hook.

“For me naturally I fade the ball, so it’s not a nice feeling. Hopefully feel more comfortable over the ball in Dallas.”

The Englishman is set to tee to up again at this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas, USA.
