World’s top FIVE players yet to win on the PGA Tour

The PGA Tour welcomed yet another new first-time winner on Sunday night as American star Taylor Moore battled to his maiden victory at the Valspar Championship.

The 29-year-old joins the likes of Kurt Kitayama and Nico Echavarria in claiming their first PGA Tour titles in recent weeks, and it got us thinking, who’s next?

We dived into the Official World Golf Rankings to find the five best-ranked players who are still awaiting their debut PGA Tour triumph.

Cameron Young – World Ranking: 17th

Young turned pro in 2019

Currently the highest ranked player in the OWGR to still be winless on American-based circuit.

The 2022 Open Championship runner-up has had several close calls, including seven top ten finishes last year.

Surely a victory on the big stage is just around the corner for the 25-year-old who does have two Korn Ferry Tour triumphs on his CV from 2021.

Tommy Fleetwood – World Ranking: 26th

A proven winner on the DP World Tour with six victories including last year’s Nedbank Golf Challenge.

The Englishman finished T-3 at last week’s Valspar and was in the hunt all day on Sunday, but just came up two shots shy.

It will only be a matter of time before the 32-year-old gets over the line in America, with his performance at Innisbrook a reminder of his class.

Sahith Theegala – World Ranking: 29th

Still a relative novice to the pro ranks having only turned pro in 2020, Theegala’s enjoyed a rapid rise to the top 30 in the world following a string of impressive performances.

The Pepperdine University graduate finished T-4 in January’s Farmers Insurance Open before ending the recent Genesis Invitational in a share for sixth place.

At just 25 years old, the American has a long career ahead of him which will no doubt see several victories on the PGA Tour.

Ryan Fox – World Ranking: 34th

At the start of last year, the New Zealander was outside the top 200 players in the world and somewhat of a ‘journeyman’ on the DP World Tour with just one win to his name.

Now, he finds himself teeing it alongside the very best in America following an unbelievable 2022 which nearly saw him win the Harry Vardon Trophy.

The big-hitter is just settling into life on the PGA Tour and has made a solid start so far with two top 30 finishes at the Players Championship and Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Thomas Pieters – World Ranking: 42nd

A controversial one with the Belgian recently opting to ditch the PGA and DP World Tour in favour of the mega money on LIV Golf.

His decision to jump ship means he’s unlikely to have many opportunities to win on the PGA Tour from now on.

However, a healthy world ranking qualifies him for this year’s Masters and his qualification for future Majors remains to be seen.

Is he good enough to win on the PGA Tour? Absolutely, but he’s severely damaged his chances by joining LIV.
