Rory McIlroy has questioned the “entertainment value” of the final round of last week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The Northern Irishman finished second at Bay Hill on Sunday, just a shot behind eventual winner Kurt Kitayama.
It was a dramatic final round at Bay Hill with only a nine of 72 players managing to break 70 with the course set-up and conditions limiting birdie chances.
“I certainly felt it on the golf course,” said McIlroy when asked about the drama on the final day. “I’m sure it was pretty good to watch.
“It’s hard because the lead’s changing hands with guys making bogeys, not really making birdies. So don’t know how people find that entertainment value, but it was a great back nine.
“It was great to be involved with. I’m really happy for Kurt. He’s been playing well for a while now and I’m happy to see him get his first win.”
McIlroy is set to tee it up in this week’s Players Championship, an event he won himself back in 2019.
