Dubai-born star Rayhan Thomas is hoping his putter behaves itself when he tees off at the Second Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School today.
The 24-year-old, who turned professional earlier this year after four years at Oklahoma State University, narrowly missed out on securing playing privileges for the DP World Tour last week.
Despite a strong closing round of four-under-par 68, Thomas finished just two shots shy of the top 20 – the threshold for earning membership on golf’s global circuit – ultimately tying for 30th after six challenging rounds in Spain.
Now, he shifts his focus to Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Georgia, where he’ll look to secure a spot in the Final Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School.
“I am reasonably happy with my play since I turned professional and I am confident that I can keep this momentum going – and hope that my putter can especially behave itself,” said Thomas, looking ahead to this week.
“I’m approaching this week with a positive mindset and focusing on playing as much as I can until mid-December 2024.”
The number of spots available for progression to the Final Stage will be announced after round one of the first qualifier. Five qualifiers will take place across the country, with spots depending on player participation at each venue.
If he advances to the Final Stage at Dye’s Valley Course at TPC Sawgrass, as well as Sawgrass Country Club, he will have the chance to secure a PGA Tour card.
The top five finishers (and ties) at the Final Stage will earn PGA Tour cards for the 2025 season.
The next 40 finishers (and ties) will gain exempt status through multiple reshuffles of the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season.
All remaining finishers will earn conditional status for the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour, as well as exemption for the Latin America Swing of the 2025 PGA Tour Americas season.
