Rayhan Thomas Holds His Own in Korn Ferry Test

Dubai-based Rayhan Thomas carded a closing level-par 71 to finish on 10-under for the week at the $1 million Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard on the Korn Ferry Tour. His four-round tally of 273 (66, 64, 72, 71) secured a share of 26th place in a competitive field.

Victory went to 33-year-old American Kyle Westmoreland, who posted an impressive 18-under total to take the title.

Analysing The Week

Reflecting on his performance, Thomas told Worldwide Golf: “Overall, I was pleased with the week. I wish I could have finished stronger – especially as I was only two shots off the lead at the halfway stage. I just had a poor weekend, but it was good to be in that position for the first time. I’ll learn from this experience and come back stronger.”

The 25-year-old, who honed his game at Dubai Creek Resort and was coached by Justin Parsons and Claude Harmon III at The Els Club, is now awaiting confirmation that he has secured full status for the remainder of the Korn Ferry Tour season.

Secured Place

“There’s a reshuffle after every four events, and I’ve been told I’ve locked up my spot for the year – but I’m waiting on official confirmation,” he added.

What’s Next For Rayhan

Next on the agenda for Thomas is a training stint in Stillwater, Oklahoma, before teeing it up in Argentina at the end of February for his next Korn Ferry Tour appearance.

Since turning professional in June 2024, Thomas has been representing Dubai Creek Resort and Dubai Golf as he continues to make strides in the professional ranks.
