Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final seeks volunteers

Golf fans across the UAE are being invited to get up close and personal with the next generation of golfing superstars at the upcoming Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final by working as a volunteer at the season-ending European Challenge Tour event.

Taking place at Al Hamra Golf Club from Wednesday 31 October to Saturday 3 November – the first time the club will host the Grand Final having previously held the penultimate tournament on the calendar – will welcome the stars of the future as they aim to finish the season in the top 15 of the Road to Ras Al Khaimah Rankings to seal a European Tour card for the upcoming season.

Jobs are available as scorers and marshals for what promises to be a one-of-a-kind, fun filled and gratifying experience which will play a crucial role in aiding the smooth running of the event. In return for their hard work and dedication each volunteer will receive a tournament-branded shirt and golf cap as a memento of the experience as well as enjoying complimentary food and beverages whilst on shift.

“Come down and get involved as history is made with Al Hamra Golf Club hosting the Challenge Tour Grand Final for the first time,” said Chief Marshal Boyd Edmondson, who has been volunteering in the region for over 15 years at events such as the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

“Volunteering is a fantastic way to share one’s passion for golf and be part of an outstanding sports event. I can recall countless moments of sheer brilliance while watching golf being played at the highest level. The Challenge Tour has been particularly pleasing to watch and work closely with, as you witness the rise of young golfers who go on to graduate to the highest level of golf.”

“The number of former Challenge Tour players who have gone on to win a Major championship is remarkable. You could be scoring for the next Justin Rose or Brooks Koepka! It’s a great event to get involved with and once you’ve caught the bug you’ll be coming back to volunteer every year.”

Simon Higginbottom, Tournament Director for the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final, said:

“The Challenge Tour Grand Final is the culmination of eight months of global golf to find the top 45 players in the Road to Ras al Khaimah. Emotions are sure to run high as the players vie for their chance to compete on the main European Tour in 2019.

“Dreams will be realised and hopes dashed at Al Hamra, it truly is one of the most important and emotional weeks for everyone concerned and we extend an invitation to all golf fans in the UAE to join us inside the ropes and be involved as the action unfolds.”

Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, said:

“We feel it’s important that local golf lovers get involved in the Ras Al Khaimah Challenge Tour Grand Final as they are an integral part of any successful tournament. Come and be a part of this unique experience by volunteering as a marshal or scorer as we aim to make this the most memorable event on the Challenge Tour calendar.”
