Adrian Meronk delivered a commanding performance to win the opening event of the 2025 LIV Golf season at Riyadh Golf Club, leading from start to finish, he held his nerve as Rahm made a final round charge.
The towering 30-year-old has long been touted as one of Europe’s rising forces, and in the Saudi Arabian capital, he proved exactly why. With pin-seeking iron play and a putter that refused to cool down, Meronk stayed in complete control despite world-class competition breathing down his neck.
Dream Start To 2025
“It’s a dream start to the season,” said Meronk after sealing the win. “To go wire-to-wire against a field this strong is really special. I felt comfortable from the very first tee shot and just tried to stay aggressive.”

That aggressive approach paid dividends early on. His opening round 62 was a masterclass, blending effortless power off the tee with pinpoint accuracy on approach. A flurry of birdies and an eagle saw him put immediate daylight between himself and the chasing pack.
Holding off Rahm Charge
He followed it up with a composed second-round 67 to maintain a two-shot cushion heading into the final day, with Rahm and Sebastián Muñoz leading the charge behind him. Sunday’s final round was less about fireworks and more about resilience. Meronk carded a solid 71, steadying the ship whenever danger loomed, and fending off a determined Rahm, who closed with a superb 67 but ultimately fell just short.

Praise From Rahm
Rahm, who has been a dominant force since joining LIV Golf, heaped praise on Meronk’s performance. “Adrian played outstanding golf from the start. To go wire-to-wire on a course like this is never easy, so full credit to him.”
Team Winners
While Meronk took the individual honours, Rahm’s Legion XIII team claimed the team competition with a dominant display, securing their first victory of the season in emphatic fashion.
With the first event in the books, all eyes now turn to the rest of the 2025 LIV Golf calendar. If this week was anything to go by, it could be a breakthrough year for Adrian Meronk on the global stage.
