Reports are circulating that Rory McIlory is working with legendary swing coach Butch Harmon ahead of next week’s Masters Tournament. When you look at the four-time Major winner’s form this season on the PGA TOUR you can see why Rory will be leaning on Butch’s vast experience of Augusta National.
Though it is hard to understand why the 2024 Dubai Desert Classic champion comes into Masters week as second favourite to win behind Scottie Scheffler. Rory has failed to bag a top 10 finish in America so far this season, with his best result coming at The Players Championship where he came tied 19th and that is without the LIV Golf stars in the field.
When you factor in the likes of Koepka, Rahm, Smith and even Mickelson at Augusta you need to be asking if the bookies know something we don’t!
Maybe Butch is able to hypnotise Rory, as McIlroy has the game for sure to win, but at this stage in his career there are mental obstacles to overcome.
