Late Setback Doesn’t Deter Rayhan Thomas in Bogota

Dubai’s Rayhan Thomas remains in the hunt at the $1 million Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard on the Korn Ferry Tour. Following rounds of 66 and 64, Thomas carded a third-round one-over-par 72, leaving him at 10 under par (202) after 54 holes in the 72-hole event in Bogota, Colombia.

The tournament is staged across two courses at Country Club Bogota – the par-71 Lagos (FC) course and the par-70 Pacos (PC) course, which measures 6,254 yards. The final round will be played on the Lagos (FC) course, a 7,237-yard challenge.

Frustration on the 18th

Reflecting on his round, Rayhan Thomas shared his thoughts with WorldWide Golf: “I was playing OK today, though I wasn’t hitting my irons quite as well as earlier in the week. I kept going and gave myself a few looks.”

However, a costly mistake on the 570-yard par-5 18th, statistically the 16th easiest hole on the course, dented his scorecard. “I hit my drive into the middle of the fairway and had 265 yards left. There’s out of bounds on the left and a penalty area on the right. I made a bad swing, sent my second shot left and OB, then my fourth shot right. I couldn’t get down in two after the drop and ended up with a triple-bogey eight.”

Despite the setback, Rayhan Thomas remains optimistic: “Apart from that blemish, it was a decent day. For the final round, I’m confident—I just need to go deep, give it my best shot, and see what happens.”

Leaderboard and Final Round Tee Times

At the top of the leaderboard is Kyle Westmoreland (USA), who leads on 17 under par following rounds of 70, 64, and a scintillating 61, giving him a two-shot advantage at 195.

For the final round, Thomas will tee off from the first hole at 1:10 pm (GMT). Tee times will run from 12:00 noon to 2:10 pm (GMT), with players going off from both the first and tenth tees.
