HotelPlanner Tour Tees Up a Sustainable UAE Swing

With back-to-back tournaments in the UAE this April, the HotelPlanner Tour isn’t just delivering world-class golf — it’s driving meaningful change for the planet.

In partnership with the Emirates Golf Federation and as part of the European Tour group’s Green Drive strategy, the Tour is rolling out a bold sustainability push. The goal? Cut carbon emissions in half by 2030 and hit net zero by 2040 — all while setting a new standard for eco-conscious professional sport.

Mangrove Restoration

Ahead of the UAE Challenge (April 10–13) and Abu Dhabi Challenge (April 17–20), initiatives range from energy efficiency and waste reduction to community-led environmental projects. Leading the way is Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club in Ajman, where a major mangrove restoration project is already making a real impact.

Key initiatives include waste reduction, energy efficiency, and eco-focused community projects. Host venue Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club is spearheading a major mangrove restoration project, enhancing biodiversity and offsetting tournament emissions. “Our initiative reflects a deep commitment to sustainability while delivering a world-class golf experience,” said Al Zorah GM Philip Henderson.

Water Conservation

Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, host of the Abu Dhabi Challenge, is also rolling out water conservation and eco-friendly course management.

Tour Director Jamie Hodges said: “We’re proud to work with forward-thinking venues and partners to leave a positive environmental legacy.”

The events are backed by sustainability-focused companies including Arena, Al Laith, and eGolf Megastore, with further support from Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Department of Culture and Tourism.

From electric vehicles to reduced plastics and player engagement, the Tour’s green commitment proves professional golf can help drive meaningful environmental change.
