Joshua Grenville-Wood, the UAE’s leading professional golfer, took a significant step toward qualifying for the Challenge Tour Grand Final after securing a joint fifth-place finish at the rain-impacted Swiss Open.
The 26-year-old recorded scores of 72 and 68 at Golf Saint Apollinaire, ending the tournament five strokes behind winner Euan Walker. The event was reduced to 36 holes following a three-hour weather delay on Thursday, with Saturday’s play completely cancelled due to course flooding.
“Rollercoaster of a week here in Switzerland,” Grenville-Wood posted on Instagram.
“Having played the first round in the rain to not being able to play for two whole days due to a flooded course.
“Was a tough week mentally but hung in there and put in a good final round to finish T5 and move myself back up the order of merit! Now time to go home to Dubai for a few days before heading to China.”
The result saw the Dubai resident move up ten places to 57th in the Road to Mallorca Rankings and a step closer to booking his spot in the Tour’s Grand Final.
The Grand Final is only open to the top 45 players in the Road to Mallorca Rankings and provides a final opportunity to secure DP World Tour cards for the 2025 season.
If Grenville-Wood is to qualify for the Grand Final, he will be in the mix for one of 20 DP World Tour cards available for the 2025 Race to Dubai season on the DP World Tour.
