Fun for all at the DP World Tour Championship

Spectators at the DP World Tour Championship are set to be entertained just as much off the course as they are with the action on it thanks to a wide range of live entertainment, theme days and kids’ activities at the season-ending event from November 16 – 19.

Kids activities

This year, tournament organisers have gone all out on making the fifth and final Rolex Series event of the year as child friendly as possible with a heap of activities on offer for the little ones. In the Championship village you’ll find a wide range of roaming performers, including princesses, circus performers and drummers who will even teach children how to play the drums themselves. There will also be an interactive bubble show where the performer will create huge bubbles that children and adults can be contained in, as well as Adrian Hurley’s magic show which is set to mystify, amaze and entertain. Hurley will also perform his new ‘Eco-Man’ show, where he transforms discarded objects into dazzling wonders! Children’s favourites such as face painting, balloon bending, colouring, plant potting and arts and crafts will also be on offer in the Championship Village.

Theme days

Building on the success of the previous two years, Ladies Day returns with plenty of perks on Saturday of tournament week. Female fans will be treated to two complimentary beverages, ladies’ golf clinics, mini massages and hair braiding by Salon 971, glitter face painting plus many more benefits. Family Day also returns with fast track entry for families and a whole host of activities to keep the little ones entertained.

Live entertainment

After the action has finished on course, fans will be entertained by some of the UAE’s best-loved local artists on stage in the Championship Village. Kicking things off on Thursday of tournament week will be Conleth McGeary, a young Irish artist who has wowed cities across the world with his unique musical style. On Friday, Dubai-based UK singer and songwriter, Lexie, best known for her awe-inspiring writing and soulful harmonies will take to the stage, before Faux-asis, the Middle East’s only Oasis tribute band, deliver one of their passionate and raucous live shows on Saturday evening. Former X Factor contestant Garry Greig, who has supported Lewis Capaldi, will bring things to a close on Sunday night with a mix of powerful ballads and modern crowd-pleasing favourites.

Championship Village

The Championship Village will once again be the place to grab some delicious F&B and sample the tournament’s many activations while taking a break from walking the course. The Long Putt Challenge sponsored by DP World returns with plenty of awesome prizes up for grabs, while the DP World Container pitches up for the second year running, giving fans the opportunity to donate unwanted golf balls that will be given a second life. The Championship Village will also be home to free golf lessons on the driving range, a kids zone with soft play, sponsor booths, House of Pops ice lolly stands and the merchandise shop, which will also have a dedicated shoe store. Foods trucks will keep you hydrated and well fed during the day with a whole host of the UAE’s favourites on offer, including Acai Spot, Mamacita, Shawarma Station and Brassa to name a few.

Rory returns

Last month it was confirmed that Rory McIlroy will return to Dubai in search of a third DP World Tour Championship title and fifth Harry Vardon Trophy. The reigning European Number One currently leads the Race to Dubai Rankings in partnership with Rolex, thanks to his two Rolex Series victories earlier this season at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and Genesis Scottish Open. The World Number Two has been at the top of the rankings since the WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play in March and is excited to tee it up at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 16-19, 2023. The famous Earth Course has proved to be a happy hunting ground for the Northern Irishman, who has won the DP World Tour Championship twice and finished top of the season-long standings in 2012, 2014, 2015 and most recently in 2022, etching his name alongside England’s Peter Oosterhuis as a four-time winner of the prestigious title.
