European Tour Performance Institute juniors enjoy DP World Tour Championship, Dubai behind the scenes tour

The Junior Academy at the European Tour Performance Institute based at Jumeirah Golf Estates were given a behind the scenes tour today (Friday) at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship which features the top 60 players in the European Tour’s Race to Dubai.

The children started the exclusive tour on the driving range where they got to see the likes of defending champion Jon Rahm and Major winners Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy in action, up close and personal. They then headed to the Media Centre to see where the press conferences take place before walking under the iconic waterfall bridge towards the 18th green, which is where one of this week’s collection of stars will be crowned the 2018 DP World Tour Championship winner.

“The kids here at the ETPI Academy absolutely love being close to the action and seeing all their heroes,” said Andy Carter, who is a Teaching Professional at Jumeirah Golf Estates’ ETPI, and helped give the students the tour.

“Rory McIlroy is their favourite but lots of them have also been desperate to see Jon Rahm too after his superb victory here last year.”

There are only two European Tour Performance Institutes in the world, one here at Jumeirah Golf Estates and the other at Terre Blanche in France, and they offer world-leading facilities for coaching, including two driving ranges, a gymnasium, swing studios and more for players to fine-tune their game under the tutelage of an expert coaching team.

More youngsters from the Junior Academy will be given a tour of the iconic course tomorrow on what promises to be a thrilling day of action on ‘moving day’ of the tenth edition of the DP World Tour Championship with Francesco Molinari looking to fend off Tommy Fleetwood as he sets his sights on becoming the first Italian to win the Race to Dubai title.
