EGF Order of Merit Men’s winner Jonathan Selvaraj has his eyes set on qualifying for the Asian Tour at this year’s Q-School.
Selvaraj competed in 15 qualifiers on the EGF schedule over the past season as well as the season-concluding Order of Merit Championship at Al Zorah Golf Club last month.
The 20-year-old won two of those events which helped secure him the title in the Men’s Division, and he’s now looking at taking his career to the next level.
“Generally I’m just on the hunt for a Tour card,” said Selvaraj. “The Asian Tour seems to be more applicable to the sort of golf and courses I’m used to out here in the UAE.
“I’m hoping to go over for their Q-School later this year. It’s probably the next one, so try and see where it goes. It’s a goal.
“I’ve talked to quite a few guys as well, including a few on the Challenge Tour and DP World Tour, and a lot of them say just do everything you can to get there.
“There so much opportunity here in the UAE, especially with the tournaments which are getting better and better every year. There are so many other high level players flying in. It’s a great place to prepare.”
The Asian Tour’s Q-School dates are yet to be confirmed, but historically they have taken place between September – January.
Last year the top 35 players earned a card for the season, with DP World Tour champion Kristoffer Broberg winning the final stage.
