Education City confirmed as new venue for Commercial Bank Qatar Masters

The golf course at Education City will welcome a world class field as it hosts the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters for the first time next year after being officially announced as the new venue for the 23rd staging of the event.

In addition, Commercial Bank have extended their title sponsorship of the tournament through until 2022, the year Qatar will welcome the FIFA World Cup.

Designed by two time Major Champion and 2009 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee José Maria Olazábal, the exciting  venue expects to not only challenge the European Tour stars but to entertain local and international spectators with its unique views of the Doha skyline and the 2022 Education City World Cup Stadium.

Highly Anticipated

The highly-anticipated event is organised by Qatar Golf Association (QGA), the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Education City Golf Club and long-term title sponsor, Commercial Bank.

First held in 1998 and widely known for bringing together the world’s best golf talent; the likes of Sergio Garcia, Rory Mcllroy, Adam Scott, Justin Rose, Ernie Els and Henrik Stenson have all competed in past years.

Education City Golf Club General Manager Michael Braidwood stated: “We are very excited to be hosting the 2020 Qatar Masters. We have recently opened our golf course and have been delighted by the response of our clients on the quality and challenge of the course. It will be interesting to see how the European tour stars play the course. The event is an ideal opportunity for us to further our goal in growing the game of golf here in Qatar and we aim to use it as a platform to get as many new people engaged in the game.”

The 2020 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters will take place between March 5-8 as part of the European Tour’s International Schedule.
