DP World Tour win three honours at Sports Industry Awards

The DP World Tour has picked up three awards, including being named 2022’s Best Sports Event Organiser, at the prestigious Sports Industry Awards (SPIA) during a glittering ceremony which took place at Atlantis, The Palm on Wednesday May 3.

The Best Sports Event Organiser category was open to professional organisations that had delivered major sports campaigns and / or activations in the Middle East throughout the 2022 calendar year, with the DP World Tour delivering no fewer than six events across the region.

Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour collected the Gold Award for Best Sponsorship Collaboration with HSBC at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, while the Tour also took home the Bronze Award in the same category for its partnership with DP World.

The category was open to sponsors who clearly demonstrate a positive business outcome such as enhanced brand awareness, wider client base, and consumer loyalty through sport sponsorship.

Tom Phillips, Head of Middle East, DP World Tour, said: “We are delighted to pick up three prestigious awards after our busiest year on record in the Middle East. Our journey in this part of the world started in 1989 and with six events last year, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, Dubai Desert Classic, Ras Al Khaimah Championship presented by Phoenix Capital, Ras Al Khaimah Classic and DP World Tour Championship, all in the UAE, and the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha, our relationships with stakeholders, sponsors and fans in the region are stronger than ever.”

Established in 2012, the Sports Industry Awards has become the leading celebration of the leaders, decision-makers, organisations, facilities and campaigns that have contributed to the development of sport in the Middle East.
