The start of International Series Oman was marked yesterday with a ceremonial tee shot at Al Mouj Golf, Muscat welcoming local dignitaries to celebrate the first of 10 International Series events on the Asian Tour in 2023.
Led by Asian Tour Commissioner and CEO Cho Minn Thant and Chairman of Oman Golf Committee Mundhir Al Barwani the tee off took place on the first hole of the Greg Norman designed course, as a number of local VIP’s gathered to witness the Asian Tour breaking ground in the Middle East for the first time.
Invitees of the International Series kick-off event included H.E Basil Ahmed Al Rawas (Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for sport and youth), Shabib Al Mammary (Visit Oman), James Goldman (British Embassy) and Abdulnasir Al Raisi (Bank Muscat), alongside the remainder of the attendees.
The impressive 132-player field includes golfers from 23 countries across 6 continents and is headlined by Major winners Sergio Garcia, Brooks Koepka, Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen, and Charl Schwartzel, all competing on the oceanfront course for their share in a total prize fund of USD $2 million.
