Adrian Meronk believes he still has to work to do if he is to make the Ryder Cup team despite winning the 2023 DS Automobiles Italian Open.
The Pole has now won three events in the last 10 months and has rocketed into the top 50 players in the world.
His latest triumph at Marco Simone G&CC – the venue for this year’s Ryder Cup – proves to Captain Luke Donald he knows how to navigate his way around the demanding 7255-yard track.
When asked about making the Ryder Cup after winning on Sunday, Meronk said: “It was definitely on my mind coming here, performing well in front of Luke.
“I think it might help (my Ryder Cup chances) but there’s still a lot of time left. I still have to work on my game and get better to make the team.”
Meronk’s latest victory has elevated him to fourth in the Race to Dubai rankings. He finished eighth in the points list last year.
The DP World Tour moves on this week to Belgium where the Soudal Open gets underway on May 11.
