Rory McIlroy is trading palm trees for pines this summer, confirming he and wife Erica Stoll—along with daughter Poppy—will soon relocate to their new home in Wentworth, Surrey.
The move comes after the U.S. Open in June and signals a return to UK roots for the four-time Major winner, who has spent over a decade living stateside in Jupiter, Florida. Their newly built property sits inside the exclusive Wentworth Estate, a stone’s throw from the famous West Course that hosts the BMW PGA Championship.
McIlroy’s Wentworth Attraction
“Straight after Augusta, we travelled over to see the house as it was going through the finishing touches,” McIlroy said. “It was fun to see and we could’ve stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood first.”
While Florida has been a practical base for McIlroy’s PGA Tour schedule, the move to England seems to balance family priorities with a deepening connection to the DP World Tour—where McIlroy remains a key figure and vocal supporter.
The relocation also follows a rocky spell for the couple. After filing for divorce in May 2024, McIlroy confirmed a month later that they had reconciled. “Over the past weeks, Erica and I realised our best future was as a family together,” he shared.
Insiders say Erica’s dislike of Florida’s humidity and her fondness for London summers helped tip the scales. And while they’ll retain their Florida home, McIlroy’s increased time in the UK could further boost his profile on European soil.
With a home course at one of England’s most prestigious golfing venues, fans will be watching closely to see if a more settled personal life translates to another chapter of on-course brilliance.
