Rory McIlroy’s Slimmed Down 2025 Schedule

Unless a fresh tempest intervenes to postpone Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods’ TGL for a second consecutive year, all eyes will be on McIlroy as he shifts his focus to this exciting new venture alongside Woods in 2025. The inaugural event is set for January 8, but McIlroy will first lead his Boston Common team into action on January 27, allowing him to defend his title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic (January 16-19).

The Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club has been a happy hunting ground for Rory McIlroy; since claiming the amateur medal there in 2007, he gone on to win the main event four times. After teeing it up in 27 events this season, it’s hardly surprising that McIlroy is keen to trim his schedule to around 20 tournaments, particularly with the Ryder Cup looming at Bethpage and his TGL obligations on the horizon.

Already, Rory McIlroy has indicated that four of the seven events likely to be cut from his 2025 calendar include the Cognizant Classic, Valero Texas Open, RBC Heritage, and the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

So, what exactly is TGL?

The TGL is an innovative, tech-driven golf league launched in partnership with the PGA Tour, designed to offer fans a fresh perspective on the sport they adore.

Conceived by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, this league will unfold in a state-of-the-art facility, allowing up to 2,000 spectators to enjoy an intimate viewing experience, enhanced by a colossal virtual simulator and a short-game complex.

The league aims to provide golf enthusiasts with the chance to witness the world’s best players competing in a team-based format, promising a “high-tech, high-energy fan experience” unlike any other.
