Adri Arnaus: Excited to make Dubai my new home

Now that the New Year celebrations are over I can finally begin to settle into my new home in Dubai. It’s been something I’ve been looking forward to doing for a long while now, and it will be great to finally be able to plan my new life out here.

Last month I spent some time here before flying back to Spain to finalise the move and get everything prepared for basing myself in Dubai from January onwards.

We’ve chosen a nice place along Jumeirah Beach Residence which is going to be ideal as there is so much to do nearby – from the picturesque beaches to the vast amounts of great restaurants in the area.

One of the main reasons we chose to move to Dubai is because it’s a fantastic place to play golf and the warm weather all year round makes it a perfect spot to practice my game during the off-season – as well as between tournaments.

New life

It’s also a great travel hub with many of the destinations on the European Tour not too far away, so I’m really excited about the year ahead as we start our new life out here.

It was really nice to catch up with lots of my family and friends in Spain. I’m a big family man and not seeing them as much when you are out on Tour can be difficult, so it was extra special spending time with everyone after completing my first season on the European Tour.

Being out here for the start of the Desert Swing is also going to be ideal as I’ll be starting my season at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship presented by EGA. I’ve been practising in the off-season and will continue to do so until the tournament, so I’m raring to get going again.

After that I’ll be playing at the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic and then the Saudi International Powered by SBIA which should be another good tournament. It was a good experience to visit Saudi for the first time last year and help promote the country.

Something bigger

It’s a great opportunity to be part of something bigger than us and really help drive the game out there to get as many young people and Saudi nationals involved in our beautiful sport.

2020 is hopefully going to be a big year for me and I’m aiming to give myself the best opportunity at winning golf tournaments every week.

One of my main aims for this season is to finish inside the top 15 of the Race to Dubai and give myself a chance of being crowned the Number One golfer on the European Tour at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.

It was great competing in the tournament for the first time last year but I want to be right up in the Rankings come the end of the season to be in with a chance of lifting the Race to Dubai trophy.

Aside from that I’m hoping to play some of the Major championships again, but as of yet, I have not qualified for any – but there is plenty of time for that to change!
