The Yas Acres Golf & Country Club (YAGCC), a contemporary community hotspot and a spectacular addition to the Emirate’s golf scene, is now open to the public after its official launch on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
The YAGCC strives to modernise the concept of a country club into a facility that is inclusive to community members, while providing them with premium lifestyle options. YAGCC will give community members access to a 9-hole fully floodlit golf course, padel tennis, fitness facilities, a swimming pool, the clubhouse and three food and beverage outlets.
The ceremonial launch saw H.E Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation; UAE Female National Team Member, Hamda Al Suwaidi; UAE Special Olympics Team Member Ali Saif Bin Summaida and rising junior superstar Maya Gaudin, take the inaugural drives from the first tee.
H.E Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation said, “The entire team of the Emirates Golf Federation is excited to see what the future holds. Both the 9-hole golf-course and the country club offer a breath of fresh air in the Emirate’s golfing space and truly quality facilities. We are confident that The Yas Acres Golf & Country Club will play a major role as a community hub and help golfing-enthusiasts find a place to pursue their passion.”
Echoing positive sentiments on the occasion, Matthew Waters, Director of Golf, stated: “The Yas Acres Golf & Country Club has been developed as an inclusive club which will serve as a community social hub by modernising the traditional concept of a golf and country club.
YAGCC will actively encourage golf enthusiasts and non-golfers alike to utilise the diverse range of lifestyle options at the Club. Our primary aim is to connect community members by offering high-class facilities which centre around supporting a fit and active lifestyle, while simultaneously being an inclusive amenity to socialise with one another.”
He added: “This concept is the first-of-its kind in the region, where we strive to create a paradigm shift in the way golf and country clubs are portrayed and utilised. We sincerely look forward to welcoming the Abu Dhabi community to such a spectacular facility.”
The YAGCC showcases a chic and contemporary take on a clubhouse which breaks away from the traditional concept and features the Roots Bar & Kitchen, a modern restaurant and large terrace overlooking the 9th hole, perfect for members and guests to relax and socialise. The club will also open two more F&B outlets at the beginning of 2022 to complete the full food and beverage experience, ideally set up for the Yas Island community. The 9-hole golf course, spanning 130 acres, serves up both a challenging game and provides a scenic backdrop for the community hotspot while testing golfers with its contours and long holes. A major design element of the course is its low, meandering ridgeline that runs through the centre.
The course also features a lake and stream system that flows throughout the entire course, supporting native desert plants and vegetation. It is visually impressive and provides a family-friendly ambience with players of all levels able to play and enjoy.
