UAE win GCC Junior Golf Championship

The UAE Junior Team secured the GCC Junior Golf Championship after Abdalla Al Suwaidi, Rashid Al Jassmy and Mohammad Skaik posted a team total of +42 for a 15 stroke triumph over Oman at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Bahrain took home third while Qatar finished in fourth in the 54-hole competition over the National Course. In the Individual competition, Kuwait’s Salem Alabkal finished on top of the leaderboard on +14, while Ali Babatein finished six shots back to take home second for Saudi Arabia.

In the main event, Qatar hold a commanding 13 shot lead over Saudi Arabia ahead of today’s final round after Ali Al Shaharani (74), Saleh Al Kaabi (75) and Abdulrahman Al Shaharani (78) contributed to their third round team total. All three players will compete in next week’s Qatar Masters, a DP World Tour event, as amateur invites at Doha Golf Club.

Team Bahrain sits in third, a further 10 strokes back with the UAE, Oman and Kuwait fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.

Al Kaabi leads the individual leaderboard on 212, eight strokes ahead of Saudi’s Faisal Sahleb and fellow Qatari Al Shaharani. Ahmad Skaik, the UAE President’s Cup champion, and 29th in the world amateur rankings is fourth, a further shot back.
