Reema Al Heloo was the star of the show for the UAE as she clinched the individual gold medal in the Womens competition at the GCC Golf Championships held at Ghala Golf Club in Oman on Tuesday.
Al Heloo carded rounds of 80-86-87 for a 253 total as she led the UAE Womens team to a whopping 53 shot triumph in the team competition.
Alia Al Emadi clinched the bronze medal and in fourth place, one stroke back, was Hamda Al Suwaidi.
Elsewhere there was a bronze medal for Ahmad Skaik in the men’s individual category as he finished with a 293 total, one shot behind the overall winner.
Skaik shot rounds of 74-77-73-69 for a championship total of 293, one shot behind than the overall winner and his final round 69 was one of the lowest on the final day and it provided the UAE Team the comeback they needed to earn the third place on the podium.
Skaik was ably backed up by good performances from Khalid Yousuf and Abdulla Al Qubaisi who finished 9th and 10th respectfully.
The U-18 team earned the silver medal with Rashid Al Emadi taking the individual bronze medal in that category while there was a gold medal for the U-15s with Obaid Al Heloo taking the silver medal individually.
Rounding out the UAE’s efforts was the U-13s as they clinched the team silver medal with brothers Rashid and Sultan Jassmey taking the individual silver and bronze medals respectively.
