UAE Ladies and Juniors Gear Up to Defend Titles at Al Mouj Golf

The UAE Ladies’ and Junior National Golf Teams are ready to take on the GCC Golf Championship, scheduled from Sunday, 22nd to Tuesday, 24th December 2024, at the iconic Greg Norman-designed Al Mouj Golf course in Muscat, Oman.

This prestigious event brings together over 45 top players from five GCC nations – Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Oman – all competing for team and individual honours in the Ladies’ and Boys’ divisions across age categories of 16-and-under and 13-and-under.

As defending champions, the UAE teams aim to build on their stellar performance from the 2023 championship, where they captured three team gold medals and four individual medals.

 

Team UAE Line-Up At Al Mouj Golf

  • Ladies’ Team: Intissar Rich, Faye Al Blooshi, and Lara El Chaib. Intissar will also defend her individual gold medal.
  • Girls’ U16 Team: Anca Mateiu and Sara Abubaker.
  • Boys’ U16 Team: Mohammed Thabet, Tariq Khoory, and Abdulla Darwish.
  • Boys’ U13 Individual Category: Zayed Ali Abubaker, making his international debut as part of the EGF’s UAE National Junior Development Programme – Future Falcons.

Championship Format

  • Team Category: Determined by the top two gross scores from three players in each round.
  • Individual Category: Based on the best gross score in each division across multiple rounds.

Leadership and Support

The UAE teams will be accompanied by EGF Vice-President General Abdullah Al Hashmi, EGF Secretary-General Khaled Al Shamsi, and National Team Coach Faycal Serghini.

General Abdullah Al Hashmi shared his excitement for the championship:
“We are eager to see our Ladies’ UAE Team defend their title while also witnessing the emergence of new young talent. For many of these players, this championship marks either the beginning or a significant step in their golfing journey.
