UAE all set for World Amateur Team Championship in Paris

The UAE National Golf Team will be gunning for glory in Paris this week as Khalid Yousuf Aljasmi, Ahmad Skaik, and Abdalla Al Musharrekh represent the country in the 32nd edition of the World Amateur Team Championship (WATC) at the Le Golf National.

The UAE will be get their championship underway at 13:36 local time today alongside the Serbian and Dominican Republic National Teams. A record-equalling 72 teams have entered this year’s championship tying the mark set in Turkey in 2012.

“It is always a pleasure for the UAE to participate in the World Amateur Team Championship,” said General Abdullah Alhashmi. Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation.

“The golf courses here in France are in great condition and we are expecting to see some great scores. Our players are ready to perform to the best of their ability. Having expectations for this event is always difficult because we are competing against the best amateur golfers in the world. It is important for our players to use the experience gained from this championship to continue their golf journey.”

Aljasmi will the be making his ninth appearance in the WATC while Al Musharrekh is making his first appearance since playing in Tukey in 2012. The UAE’s star man, Ahmad Skaik, will be a force to be reckoned with after a host of impressive performances in recent years, including shooting the lowest round by an Emirati at last year’s AVIV Championship.
