After nearly eight hugely successful years at The Track, Meydan Golf, Tom Rourke is set for a new challenge after it was announced he would be taking over as General Manager of The Els Club.
Rourke will bring a wealth of experience with him having been at the helm of the Troon-managed The Track, Meydan Golf since 2012.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining The Els Club at Dubai Sports City,” said Rourke.
“This opportunity at The Els Club wasn’t something I was expecting, and I was very happy in my role at The Track, Meydan Golf, but when something like this comes along you have you go for it.
“Troon have been a massive part of my growth and development within this region. Over the last seven and a half years they have given me a huge amount of support and guidance in running a facility, and together we made The Track, Meydan Golf a very successful business.”
During his time at the The Track, Meydan Golf, the club won ‘Best 9 Hole Golf Course’ in the Middle East for three consecutive years from 2017 at the World Golf Awards, while Rourke was also in charge during the introduction of the popular Wilcard offer.
The Englishman’s CV also includes spells as Director of Golf at Yas Links between 2010 – 2012, Golf Operations Manager at both Saffa Golf Club in Saudi Arabia and Nad Al Sheba Golf Club after he started his golfing career as an Assistant Professional at The Abbey Hotel and Belfry Resort.
Rourke will now turn his attention to one of the finest golfing destinations in the Middle East.
“The role has massive scope, with the opening of an incredible new leisure facility, which is due to open in September with a two-story gym and a restaurant by Sergio,” he said.
“In addition there’ll be a new swimming pool with a kids pool and kids play facilities and it’s going to add another dimension to what is already a world-class facility.
“Partner these enhancements with the incredible golf course put together by Ernie Els Design and it’s a very, very special facility and I’m delighted to be in this position.”
